Mt. Pleasant Window and Remodeling Company Review

  • Comment: We are overjoyed with our new windows. When we purchased our Tudor style home almost 15 years ago, I actually got money back at the closing because one of the windows in in the office was cloudy. In the office, there are 4 large windows that make up the tall window in a room with cathedral ceilings. I thought having that window replaced would be an easy job. What I didn’t know at the time was that when my home was built in the 80’s the beautiful windows did not have diamond muntins, but had a type of sticker that was put on the windows to look like muntins. I thought I would just have to find someone to replace the window and replace the stickers so that window would match the 3 around it, as well as the other windows in the front of my house. I called the company that I used at my last house who said I would have to replace the 4 in the office and find a person to put the stickers on. I searched and searched for someone who still did detailing with stickers. I spoke to someone from Ohio that explained that after 20 years, it would be impossible to match the tape used on my windows due to fading and he could not even come up with a price that he was willing to charge to come to Pittsburgh. I then decided I needed to find a company who offered the real diamond-shaped muntins and replace all of my windows. I had several of the companies who left materials in my mailbox like Anderson, Pella, West Shore and more come and give us quotes. Their solutions were either a beveled glass with small diamonds or they suggested we switch to square muntins or find someone to apply stickers. I had sales reps tell me they could do what I wanted and when I tried to purchase the person who came to measure before the order was processed told me that what I thought I was getting and what they were going to order were two different things. This actually happened twice. I had no less that 10 quotes over the years and no one offered the type of window I wanted. I saw several Tudor homes that had replaced the windows with windows without muntins or with square muntins and I did not like the way they looked. One of my favorite parts of Todur homes are the windows and I refused to believe that it was impossible to find what I wanted in a modern window. Finally, I saw an ad for Mt. Pleasant Windows and gave them a call. Because I had been burned before I made them find out if they could make what I wanted in the style of window, multiple sizes, and color I needed. The first person I spoke with called me back a couple of days later and said they had heard from a supplier that it could be done. At that point I agreed to allow a salesperson to come out and give us a quote. Christian came and I showed him what I wanted and he got on the phone with his manager and the manufacturer to make sure they could do a custom color window frame, diamond inserts (also a custom color because they only offered white, black or beige muntins) and all of the sizes I required. They confirmed it could be done and Christian patiently measured every window in the house including some in attic above our garage. He put the quote together and was very professional about trying to close the deal but did not try any high pressure sales tactics to get me to sign the contract at that moment. I believe we had 6 different sizes of windows, totaling almost 30 windows, so this was a huge purchase for us. We called him that evening and he returned the following day to get our signatures. Due to supply chain issues they took a long time to make, but it was well worth the wait. The installers were here for two days and they left my home cleaner than they found it. They were all professional and polite and did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend Mt. Pleasant windows. They look amazing and there was definitely a difference with temperatures in some rooms this summer.
