Our Story: The 50-Year Secret To Not Pulling Your Hair Out During A Home Remodel
Built On Discipline. Proven Over Time. Trusted For Generations.
You’re not here for a history lesson. You’re here because you’re about to make a serious investment in your home, and you want to get it right the first time.
Because somewhere along the way, you’ve realized something most homeowners eventually do: Hiring the wrong contractor costs time, energy… and peace of mind. And you’re trying to avoid that:
- No disappearing crews
- No shortcuts hidden behind the walls
- No problems showing up five years later
Just a company that does what they said they would do… correctly… the first time.
Specifically, you want to know if we’re legit, stable, and actually know what we’re doing. The short answer? We’ve survived 50 years of recessions, a few housing crashes, and a global pandemic by being OBSESSED with the stuff you can’t see… the “invisible 90%” of your remodel. That’s the standard we’ve held ourselves to since 1975.
Here is how a ‘70s fitness fad turned into your best bet for a stress-free home.
1975: We Didn’t Enter the Industry… We Stepped In to Fix It
Mt. Pleasant Window & Remodeling didn’t start the way most do. There was no grand vision to become a remodeling company and no polished business plan.
Instead, it started with a realization.
In the early 70s, our founder, Richard (Dick) Wrobleski, was selling Dynagem. He went door to door, meeting homeowners every day. And while he was helping people improve their health, he kept seeing the same thing over and over again:
- Homes that weren’t holding up.
- Projects that weren’t done right.
- An industry with almost no accountability.
So he made a decision. He stepped away from selling fitness equipment and brought something different into home remodeling… structure, discipline, and a level of professionalism the industry was missing.
Boom. Just like that Mt Pleasant Window & Remodeling was born. Home visits selling fitness equipment quickly turned into home visits to sell quality, durable windows that would last for decades. That was our mission then… that’s our mission today… and that’s probably going to be our mission 50 years from now.
1976: The Early Stages Of Mt. Pleasant Window & Remodeling
In the beginning, we weren’t exactly sitting in a boardroom drawing up fancy charts or master plans.
Honestly? We just wanted to build better window systems and make an honest living… one home at a time. We didn’t have a five-year plan or a 50-page corporate strategy. We just had a simple, daily mission: do the job right so we could look our neighbors in the eye the next time we saw them at the grocery store.
But a funny thing happens when you dedicate yourself to doing things the RIGHT way, as Dick did all those years ago.
People notice.
While most contractors were racing to see how many windows they could slap into frames in a single afternoon, we were busy making sure our installs wouldn’t rot your walls out five years down the road. Ensuring that your windows would hold up and keep your home sealed tight for the long haul.
Before we knew it, those honest days of hard work turned into years… which turned into decades… which turned into generations. We grew because we treated every home like it was our own, and our neighbors started telling their neighbors.
2017: Leadership That Was Earned
Rich (Dick Wrobleski’s son) officially took the helm as owner in late 2017, but his “interview” for the ownership position started twenty years earlier.
He didn’t start his career at a desk. In fact, he started with 5 AM work shifts. At 16, his dad had him on a roofing sub-crew where he spent his summers “humping” 80-pound shingle bundles up ladders in the brutal Pennsylvania heat.
Through the years, Rich literally touched every part of this business… unloading tractor-trailers, installing windows, and managing the books… all while earning his Master’s Degree at night. Richard learned the value of hard work and doing things right. Then, in 2017, Rich stepped into his ownership role with a clear vision of keeping what his dad built alive… and even growing it.
Since Rich took over, Mt. Pleasant Window & Remodeling has evolved. Specifically, we’ve:
- Brought in some of the brightest, most proven industry minds, so it’s never a one-man show.
- Moved our office to a larger facility in Export, PA, so we’re more equipped to handle massive deliveries.
- Started preparing the next generation (Rich’s sons, Joey and Danny) for leadership roles, so the future remains bright.
- Perfected The “Mt. Pleasant Way” — a strictly by-the-book installation protocol that ensures the hard-earned standards Rich learned over the years are applied to every single job we touch.
By combining hands-on grit with high-level strategy, we’ve created a remodeling process that leaves nothing to chance.
The Next Generation: Passing Down The Family Legacy
Today, the third generation… Rich’s sons, Joey and Danny… are stepping up to ensure our deeply-rooted standards remain.
While many local contractors are being bought out by faceless private equity firms or out-of-state investors, our plan is different: we are staying local and family-owned. We want to pass this business down, not sell it off, ensuring you have a partner who answers to a family legacy rather than a distant boardroom.
- Joey (Rich’s oldest son) brings a competitive, high-energy vibe to the team, rooted in a lifetime of playing sports. His mission is to grow our reach while strictly maintaining the “small business feel” and personal touch our customers have trusted for 50 years.
- Danny (Joey’s younger brother) is joining the company full-time after graduating from college. He’s here to ensure that the “Mt. Pleasant Way” is applied to every project, every single day.
A home remodel is not something you want to revisit. For that reason, the focus remains the same as it was decades ago: follow a proven process, maintain consistent standards, and approach each project with the level of care it deserves.
That philosophy has guided the company since 1975, and it continues to shape how work is done today.
